In the coming months we will publish profiles of danes living with COPD. Strong personalities, living an active life, despite being "breathless" - as one of them puts it. COPD is a condition that affects all aspects of peoples lives, and turns every day into a constant fight for something, that most of us don't even think about - breathing!

The purpose of our optimistic serial is to draw attention to a disease, which many people live with and fight with on the quiet. In Denmark, with 6 million people, more than 200.000 have the disease, half of them without knowing what it is that makes them short of breath! Often COPD is diagnosed only when around 50 % af the lung capacity is lost. An early diagnosis can save a lot, and it is therefore most important to see a doctor at the slightest suspicion of COPD.

The five danes we have spoken to, try to live a good life in spite of severe COPD, with markedly reduced lung function. Thus, they are living and active proofs, that there is allways something you can do to fight the disease and its consequences - however, read it yourself....
